Day 4: Women Power

ushistory.org, "Modern Feminism"

  • '"Motherhood is bliss'...'Your first priority is to care for your husband and children...'Homemaking can be exciting and fulfilling."' (ushistory.org)
Akiko's life represent women in the old days whom does not deserve any education and never get involved in any political issues. They have to stay home and take care of the kids and their husband. Do the cooking and cleaning. But, these "rules" changed after the women movement and they get education and also freedom to speak; equality in everything.
  • "But not every woman wanted to wear pearls and bring her husband his pipe and slippers when he came home from work" (ushistory.org).
Jane's life on the other hand represent woman who wants freedom and education. She respect people who deserve her respect She treat Suzuki and Oh different from John because they are her friends and they support her decisions even though they might lose their jobs.

This website is hard to evaluate its reliability because it does not have any author or the publish date. But the site is sponsored by a non-profit organization, Independence Hall Association and the web was formed since 1995.

I will use this website to show that the life of women have changed - Akiko's bravery for leaving her husband who beat her frequently; not every women can be as brave as her.
