Jane's lover, Sloan, is the Commissioner of the show. They always have these libidinous conversations most of the night; They know each other through a friend of theirs.
After Akiko watched this week's My American Wife, she wanted to adopt too. But, John was furious and demand that he wants a child of his own. Before he got home, John was told by the doctor that Akiko throw up every time after the dinner.
So, Jane was trying to persuade Sloan to use only one condom by telling him that it is safe and she won't be able to get pregnant. The stories goes on by illustrating Akiko's meeting with John before their marriage. She was introduced to John through her boss from the manga magazine company.
